The
first part of day five involved a lecture/discussion on Lesson Planning
by Dr. Rudi Thompson. She emphasized the importance of backward design;
planning lessons with the end in mind and visualizing the big picture.
She encouraged us to incorporate in our lessons attributes that are
desired by employers as well as college course-work and making both
transparent to the students so they will better buy in to the lesson.
This would help our students find the relevance in what is being taught.
Also she stressed the importance of refining lessons by analyzing
previous lessons and testing their effectiveness.
The second part of the day was dedicated to literature review for our project.The following sites might be of interested to you if building an aquaponic system:

In addition we use an existing lesson plan template from teachengineering.org. Fern and I will develop a different lesson plan, one for Biology the other for Chemistry. We expect to run this lesson sometime throughout the school year.
